From the press release:

Jason Drake (aka Cassettes Won’t Listen) has relaunched his record label, Dope Lotus Records, the label he founded in 2003 which served as a launch pad for his early material. This time around he brings 12 new artists and side projects ranging from lo-fi acoustic love songs of Whole Wheat to instrumental hip hop and electronic beats from Get Harmonic and Eka, each having a homemade bedroom recording aesthetic.

The sampler, titled Tight Knit, also includes CWL’s remix for his new single, “Perfect Day”. “I chose to center the resurrection of Dope Lotus around those who are sitting in their homes night after night working on great albums that have yet to see the light of day.” says Drake “I really enjoy bedroom recordings no matter what the quality. I’ve always operated from a home studio and I wanted people to hear the amazing work that my friends have been working on throughout the years.”

  • Speaking of Beat Radio - apparently their entire CD is available for free download as well. Success! http://www.beatradio.org/
  • The second track - the one by Beat Radio - holy awesome.
  • Dude, I listened to this sampler on repeat the entire day yesterday.
I'm a big CWL fan, so knowing he curated these artists forever ago
    makes it even more special.
  • I did really like the Perfect Day remix - sounds like it's worth a deeper dig? The mix plays really well straight through too - even though genre switches a bit, which is great. Unlike most of my party mixes, which can jump from Boston to Montell Jordan, though it always seems like a good idea at the time ... not to mention my self-imposed stipulation that all mixes should have at least one Billy Joel song, preferably "Downeaster Alexa." I mean, that just seems obvious.
