Culled from a list selected by 90 leading international critics, here’s a list of 1001 albums everyone should hear before they die.

I won’t even touch the 80s, 90s and 00s. I’m sure I could find 1001 just from the 50s through the 70s if I had the time and inclination.

Check out the full list here.

What albums must you hear one more time before kicking the bucket?

  • I don't get how they pick "the one" from artists who are consistently awesome. For example, The Cure's showing is Seventeen Seconds??? I mean, sure, but isn't it pretty much established that Disintegration is their high water mark? Yeah, it's cliche, but it's cliche because it's true.

TV On the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain was WAY better than Desperate Youth. They're both awesome, but when they added the extra members ... come on guys.

Kings of Leon are on there twice??? Seriously? Why not just add some more hard rock from the 70s? Or, instead, why not add better hard rock from the present? Hello, Black Keys?

Finally, how is there no Collective Soul or Third Eye Blind? You're talking about the most played bands of the 90's - literally in CS's case and 3eb had about half their debut released as singles. I mean, I get that they're staples and maybe not as hip to list, but these guys basically defined 90's alt. Speaking of that, Better than Ezra? "Good," alone, warrants that debut a spot on the list.

Anyway, on a high note - King Crimson, yeah!
