The swizzle stick of a headrush known as the Yo Gabba Gabba childrens’ television program is a huge hit at my house — with me. Don’t get me wrong, my three year-old likes it and all, but I love it.
When DJ Lance looks up from his ghetto blaster and tells us to “get the sillies out” and “go crazy,” I just can’t help but rock out.
Add really good bands to the mix — Jack Black, MGMT, The Shins, The Ting Tings — and you’ve just found childrens’ programming that neither sucks nor is lame. Where was this type of show “back in the day”? That’s what I want to know.
Anyhoo, there’s a new album coming out on October 20, Yo Gabba Gabba! Music Is Awesome!, on Filter US Recordings, and I can already tell it’s going to be a favorite….of mine. I just love children’s music that doesn’t suck.
For example, here’s one of the tracks:
Of Montreal : “Brush Brush Brush” (mp3)
