Imelda May brings her Irish rockabilly to the states

imeldamayI keep getting pitch after pitch for Imelda May and just finally looked her up.

Holy crap.

Dublin-born rockabilly singer?

Hand picked by Jools Holland?

Jazz sensibility?

Okay…I suppose it was worth eight (8!) pitches.

Here’s the single off her debut album, Love Tattoo, which hit the US last month:

Imelda May : “Johnny Got a Boom Boom” (mp3)

Here she is — with an intro from Jeff Beck and Jools Holland…

Saw her set on Jools...brilliant. Picked up her cd in the US. Highly Recommended. Spans from Classic rockabilly ("Johnny got a Boom Boom", "Love Tattoo", Retro-Swing ("Feel Me"), Honky-Tonk ("Wild About My Lovin"), Blues ("Smotherin Me") and gorgeous Torch ballads ("Knock 123", "Meet You at the Moon")....Great variety, versatile vocals......wonderful recording.
  • Shit. Went full-screen on the video and plugged in the ibuds when she started singing. Great tune and arrangement. May go get the album now.

Who the hell is the guy snapping fingers? I could do that. Maybe I should send my resume along.

    You;re an asshole.

Anyone running a decent music blog has known about her for a couple of years already.

8 pitches!? Rely on PR sucks much?
