I first saw chic chick rock punk band Metric back in October 2005 touring on Live It Out. At the time I wrote, “Ranging from coy teasing winks and full on headbanging, singer Emily Haines guided the crowd on a chick rock run through L.A. on those uppers you can buy at truck stops.”
The following year, Haines released a solo album, Knives Don’t Have Your Back, which showed her softer, kindler, gentler side with the ability to stir up primal thoughts in the hearts of any and all males who heard her soft coos.
Shaking that off…now Metric is back with some of both… Catchy, punky, raw and indifferently heart-breaking, Metric’s new album, Fantasies is the stuff wet dreams are made of.
Here’s the single remix:
Metric – Help I’m Alive (The Twelves Remix) (mp3)
Metric play Minneapolis’ First Avenue on June 13.
