AC/DC shook the Xcel Energy Center all night long last night. A capacity crowd wearing blinking devil horns had their ears (sometimes literally) blown with classic hits like Back in Black, Dirty Deeds, Thunderstruck and Hells Bells, as well as new tracks like Rock N Roll Train and Anything Goes.
The 35 year-old band proved they are still young rockin’ stallions at heart, still pioneering the rock n roll experience, including a flaming steam locomotive of death, 50 foot writhing Whole Lotta Rosie, booming salutation cannons, a giant bell with Brian Johnson hanging off the clapper ringing in Hells Bells and the ultimate guitar hero, Angus Young, braving flowing sweat pools to side step solo after solo.
In fact, Young’s nearly 10-minute solo — the centerpiece of the band’s main set — was one of the most memorable rock and roll moments of my lifetime. I typically have very little tolerance for these sort of masturbatory self-gratification when it comes to soloing, but Young is master of his domain when it comes to rocking a crowd.
If only AC/DC would “come again please.”
