Grab a six-pack, fire up the T-bird and head into the darkness. Minneapolis band Darkfold is playing their debut CD release show this Thursday, Oct. 16.

Darkfold’s new album, Metaverse, is flecked with mid-90s alt-grunge (”Bottom of the World”), metalcore instrumentals (”Oppressotron”) and early-70s Brit-metal (”The Hunt”) — all the makings of a drunken night of debauchery, if you ask me.

Here’s the video for “Oppressotron”

The band gave me three (3!) copies of their new album to give away. Leave a comment with why you deserve a copy, and I’ll see what I can do.

Darkfold’s CD Release Show is Thursday, Oct. 16 at 400 Bar with Foresight For Sore Eyes and The Human Bean.

I would like a copy of this release because am always on the lookout for new music to get behind, particularly music that can traverse boundaries.
Besides, I brought you a gift: Dave Ivens. Walking the line between metal and hip-hop and doing it really really well.

The Melbourne heavy scene is atrophied, inbred and topheavy. The only way to make truly original heavy music is to break out of the genre completely. Just as the most punk-rock artists currently releasing music all wear cardigans and are clean-shaven, the the most down-to-dirt metal act I have found in the past three years happens not to play metal.

Only downside, the metal kids don’t like him because he raps, and the rap kids don’t like him because he doesn’t rap right.

I deserve a copy because all I’ve heard from Darkfold is ramblings from Tim (drums) and Matt (guitar) in a basement setting. Plus, Halloween is approaching thus enticing my dark side, appropriately Darkfold’s new album may fulfill this need!
