[...] Last year was my fourth Warped Tour, and I have to say Canterbury Park was an excellent location — way WAAAAY better than the stifling Metrodome asphalt. [...]

[...] Michael Kent Out of the ashes of Twin Ion comes Michael Kent’s self-titled solo project singing songs in the genre best described as “teenage angst anthems.” There’s a lot of competition in said genre on every stage at Warped Tour, so he’ll need to step it up with a differentiator sooner than later.
warped was built around ska and skaters... 2 things of which you hated on in this article. and as far as advertising goes, they are the reason you paid 40 dollars to see 20 bands. so why not just let them advertise. how can you claim to stick up for warped veterans when you aren't even one. get used to it, all your so called old school bands are dying. they dont want to be on the tour as much as you claim to hate it. so go find their farewell tours and just embrace the artistic value of progression rather then bitching about how things arent like they used to be. or dont embrace it and just leave it alone. im sure kevin lyman could spare your ticket.

i totally agree with the wrestling thing though...

Actually, Reel Big Fish showed off their eclecticism after you split. They played a song and then said, "We are actually MASTERS [[Master of Puppets break]] of many genres. For instance, we could've played that last song in any number of genres besides ska."

Then they proceeded to do a verse in a harmonica-inflected blues style. Then they did it again, but as disco this time. Then they did a country version. :-) Lastly, and my favorite, they did the verse in death metal style. Brilliant. :-)

Story of the Year put on a great show and were surprisingly heavy. The pit was pretty fuckin' wild. Cobra Starship had a lot of energy as well -- and a dedicated fanbase.
