Valient Thorr are from Venus. They’re quite insistent upon this fact. I guess they must have a lot of early Megadeth albums on Venus because VT have those riffs in their bones. Somehow they took the crunchy, thrashy licks of old-school Iron Maiden albums and mashed it together with the work ethic and energy of James Brown Their lyrics are straight out of the journal of paranoid malcontent but they bring only good vibes and good times.

Valient and his crew may hail from the morning star but they bring the earthiest rock you can imagine; metal shoved right up your nostril and hammered into your cerebellum like a Nordic god should.

Openers Early Man and Architects brought metalcore and punk vibes, respectively, and considering they were starting things off ungodly early for the all-ages show, they did a solid job of maintaining the energy level keeping things loud.

You’ve got to if you’re gonna play with Valient Thorr; Venutians know how to rock. — Tim O’Regan
