Plagiarists are a five piece indie/alt-rock outfit that formed in the fall of 2004.

While attending St. Olaf College in their hometown of Northfield, Minnesota, members Eric Wilson and Davis Wille (vocals/guitar and lead guitar) met fellow student Mikael Witte (bass guitar). The three found that they shared a mutual love for ‘left-of-the-dial’ music and decided to have a go at creating their own. The remaining members of the band came in 2005. Blake Wergeland (drums, and fellow Northfieldian) joined in March and Brendan Golle (keys) in October. After an offer from Ian Anderson (One For The Team), the group was signed to the Minneapolis label Afternoon Records.

Only sophomores in college, Plagiarists released their debut album, Veto!, in the spring of 2006 under the production of Anderson and followed the release with a brief Midwest tour. After a six-month hiatus in 2007 due to members taking time to study abroad, the group immediately began work on their follow-up while simultaneously wrapping up a hectic senior year of college. For their sophomore effort, the goal was to make an album that highlighted the feelings and attitudes attributed to being young in the rural Midwest; a viewpoint seemingly absent from a highly East/West Coast and England concentrated scene.

Once again, they worked with Anderson to produce their follow-up, entitled Literal Scene (released May 2008), only this time decided to self-release their work.
