The first time I saw Guerrilla Blue play was their very first live show ever, and admittedly, I wasn’t very patient.
Later I checked out their debut EP, interviewed the band and became a more informed listener.
They have a new album out, Fluorescent Fuzz, that definitely has its stellar moments. Favorites include the smooth lounge rocker “Against the Grain” with its meandering guitar riffs, the driving groove of “Taken” and “Sometime After Midnight” with its sexual innuendo. And while the falsetto chorus on “Turkish Cherry” and Na na na’s on “Kobe” just aren’t doing it for me, there are continually more opportunities on FF for me to give the band another chance.
Guerrilla Blue play their CD Release Show today, Friday the 13th, at Cabooze with The Teddy Holidays and Charlz Newman.
