I just listened to Sinkane’s swirling psych freakout “Autobahn” off his new album, Color Voice (Emergency Umbrella), and I’m still corkscrewing my ears in disbelief. The Columbus, OH native’s solo project shows his penchant for drums, which is no surprise since he’s drummed for several hardcore bands, including Caribou.
But there’s also a pop sensibility here that is entirely embraced and then shown the door — an attribute I greatly expect. I’m looking forward to hearing the whole album.
