Earl Greyhound Announce Spring Tour, Skip Minneapolis, Disappoint Me

Brooklyn’s Earl Greyhound — a Zeppelin-inspired power trio who take fervent notes from other bluesy psychedelic 70s groups like Cream, Big Star and T.Rex — announced their Spring Tour this week and totally ruined my summer by skipping the Twin Cities.

Not only did this band rock my face off at SXSW 07, their debut album, Soft Targets, (Some Records) is still a throwback favorite when I grow tired of Wolfmother and Black Keys, AND my photo above that features the Mayor of Austin and Earl Greyhound was actually printed in a high school text book used in Texas public schools this year. You would think I have some pull because of that…but no. No, I don’t.

US Spring Tour

  • May 28 Baltimore, MD @ Fletcher’s
  • May 29 Norfolk, VA @ Norva Theater
  • May 30 Charlotte, NC @ Visulite Theatre
  • May 31 Atlanta, GA @ The Earl
  • Jun 03 Nashville, TN @ Exit /In
  • Jun 04 Indianapolis, IN @ Radio Radio
  • Jun 05 Chicago, IL @ Double Door
  • Jun 06 Detroit, MI @ Magic Stick
  • Jun 07 Cleveland Heights, OH @ Grog Shop
  • Aug 10th Liberty State Park, NJ @ All Points West Festival

I’m told the band will be previewing songs from their upcoming album during these shows, and following the tour, the group will head into the studio to record their sophomore LP.

Here’s the video for their track “S.O.S.” off Soft Targets:
