The UK electro-psych-drone duo known as Fuck Buttons released Street Horrrsing this week. Fuzz for the sake of feedback, pretentious musicality, nihilism and egregious disregard for the listener are what makes this band great.
To the casual listener, “Race to the Bedroom” is 9 minutes and 15 seconds of cutting room floor extras. But after 90 seconds, your ears accept the fuzz like bagpipe drones, the melody enters, tribal beats begin and you realize this band is genius.
Street Horrrsing is a fuzz ball surprise. I’m going to listen to it on repeat the rest of the day, drive 30 mph in the fast lane all the way home, cut the Starbucks line and order a vente water. That’s just how I roll.
