Trees are crops. I have a friend who hates it when I say it, but it’s true. Cut down a tree, replant a tree, wait 25 years, cut it down — repeat. But if a tree falls in the woods with 30 loggers and a TV camera around, can you win a prize?
The first ever non-fiction series about the “treacherous” life of Pacific Northwest timber cutters, AX MEN debuts Sunday, March 9 at 9 p.m. CST on History.
The series looks at the legacy that the pioneers of our country laid for the present and future generations of loggers, following four logging crews through a season in the remote forests of northwest Oregon.
Of course there’s drama: mechanical failures, hurricanes, snapped cables, runaway logs and whoops-there-goes-my-arm-machinery.
Based on the trailer (mov), if you liked Ice Road Truckers, I think you’re going to like this one. I’m waiting for the official screener copy but am desperately hoping every episode starts with the men eating platefuls of flapjacks.
What You Can Win
An Ax Men Lumber Pack featuring: a polycanvas waist pack including a Crossing 7-in-1 Survival Tool with thermometer with Fahrenheit and Celsius readings, polarized compass, whistle, L.E.D. light, mirror, magnifying glass, 18.5″ lanyard, 22 oz. aluminum water bottle, Ax Men Puzzle Box, History Journal and History iPod Speaker Case.
I think that should be enough gear to log your personal rainforest!
How to Win
