We highly suggest you check out Three Gorges + Curated by George Slade, which opened Saturday, November 17th at the Minnesota Center for Photography and runs through February 10.

The opening reception attracted dozens of people, packed into the small gallery space to meet the artists (both Chinese and non-Chinese) and to see their work. The show consists of 22 photographer’s efforts to document the Three Gorges project in China over the course of many years.

The variance of skill level and content reveals a complete perspective on the massive undertaking by the Chinese government to transform large regions of the Chinese landscape. The artists captured various emotional and economic outcomes, mostly tragedies that impacted the Chinese people as a result of the damn construction.

The show brings a unique, international documentary effort to Minnesota and is not one to be missed. Admission is free and again, the show runs until February 10, 2008. –Annika Hanson

Thanks for your observations, Annika. It’s great that you saw some of the strengths of the work, and what I was hoping people would see in the collection. (Nice to have a shot of your mom in the gallery, too!) I’m wondering, who is/are the “we” in your writing (i.e. “We highly suggest…”)? I’d not heard of Perfect Porridge previously. Guess I should look around.
