This afternoon I’m checking out the new Cars & Trains EP, Consumer Confidence, Vol. 2. It’s a companion to the new Rusty String full length which is full of “electronic-folky goodness, swathed with banjos, violas, trumpets, and clarinets in tandem with lush vocal harmonies.”
The first two tracks are very synthy with some great drumming — reminiscent of an instrumental Notwist. The remaining tracks remind me of some of my favorite Australian DIY noise rock.
The EP can be downloaded for free here via zip. If you dig the EP, definitely check out the LP and toss the band some dough for their trouble.
