Hey, check out these new releases today:
New York five-piece The GoStation release their debut full-length this week, Passion Before Function. At first listen, it’s kind of a mediocre REM. What do you think?
The GoStation : “All Together Now” (mp3)
Singer/songwriter Alex Brown’s debut, Leaves in the River, under the Sea Wolf moniker is haunting, transcendent and folky.
Sea Wolf : “You’re A Wolf” (mp3)
Multi-platinum and multi-ARIA (Australian Grammy) award-winning rock band Eskimo Joe are anxious to find out what us Americans think of their material — especially after nailing their performance at the mega Live Earth concert back in July (playing alongside Crowded House and Wolfmother). This is off their new album, Black Fingernails Red Wine, out today.
Eskimo Joe : “Black Fingernails, Red Wine” (mp3)
Sherborn, MA group State Radio was formed by former Dispatch member Chad Urmston. The group’s new album, Year Of The Crow, is a follow up to their debut Us Against The Crown and features more of the same mixture of roots reggae and rock.
State Radio has also announced a massive fall tour with dates that include stops in The US, UK and Europe – oh, but not Minneapolis.
State Radio : “Unfortunates” (mp3 via zip)
Multi-instrumentalist John Davis (drummer of D.C.’s defunct Q And Not U) and singer-songwriter Laura Burhenn are Georgie James. The love of 60s & 70s pop music shines through on their Saddle Creek debut, Places.
