We’ve been to L.A. and NYC in the past week. There’s simply not time to bless you with all of the great new music out there. Here’s a quick look at the items we meant to give more attention this week:

Local Minneapolis group Small White host their CD Release show tonight at Big V’s with Somatic Fuzz, Galaxy Drive and High Fashion Wigs. The new disc, Product Placement is an electic mix of post-punk and raw rock and roll passion…the kind of stuff your crazy Uncle Eddie would play for you in his basement bedroom when you go to visit your grandparents. Oh Uncle Eddie.

Our friend Chris at Culture Bully unveiled a new site design today. Also, today marks the beginning of his 2nd Annual Choose Your Giveaway contest, giving away all sorts of great music each and every day through the entire month of September.

Arkansas screamo rock outfit After the Tragedy play Club 3 Degrees tonight, touring on their new album, The Voyage of Reason. Christians can yell, too.

For some reason, we got a mailing from local rap group Black Chrom in anticipation of their new disc, Monstrous XP. It’s not our scene, but the CD Release Party is tonight at Seven Nightclub & Lounge (across from the Fine Line on 1st) with Sunburn, Mickey Rocco and our friends, Plasmatic Brain Spasm.

There’s been lots of Bon Iver buzz here locally. The Eau Claire, WI-based artist has a haunting voice and impeccable songwriting style. His debut album, For Emma, Forever Ago, is a favorite in our rotation.
