Minneapolis acoustic pop group Cedar Avenue’s new EP, Running Home, was produced by Brian Johnson (Coldplay, Lifehouse, John Mayer), and it’s primed and ready to play in heavy rotation at your neighborhood beauty parlor.

Singer Jesse Matthew knows a thing or two about soft crooning that makes the girlys giggle. Underscore that with basic, yet magnetic acoustic guitar, and you have yourself a pop smash.

Are we saying Cedar Avenue is writing and performing envelope-pushing awesomeness? Heck, no. This is basic pop drivel, but after sitting at Great Clips for 50 minutes whilst listening to the crap people call music these days piped into the waiting area, this one is poised for #1.

Cedar Avenue play Varsity Theater tonight, August 14, and also have a free show coming up at the Fine Line on August 21 and one at Acadia on August 23.
