Chemical Exposure
[ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED]
Label: MVD Audio

Sadus are wicked-fast masters of some fairly technical punkish thrash metal. Sadus drummer Jon Allen, is a phenomenal player who doesn’t ever seem to slow down. The band keeps up and the thrash is thick and furious, pausing only occasionally for eerie intros and ominous noises.

Sadus formed in 1984 in California and rode thrash metal’s ascent to…well, not much by popular music standards. But Sadus has carved out a niche for itself in the metal community after initially sounding a lot like Slayer. Sadus is still around and bassist, Steve DiGiorgio (also of Iced Earth & Testament) is now recognized as one of the most technically innovative players in metal. Sadus’ most recent album is 2006’s Out for Blood.

Chemical Exposure might actually better known as Illusions to many around in 1988 to hear it, since that was its original name. When the album was re-released on CD in 1991 it got different cover art and a new name: Chemical Exposure. This remastered reissue contains two extra tracks: “Desolator,” from the D.T.P. demo, and a different version of “Torture” from the same. -Tim O’Regan
