We’re running a little contest for the new USA Network original series, Burn Notice.
Apparently, we’re told by the show’s PR folk, when spies get fired, they don’t get a letter from human resources, they get a “burn notice.” Hey, Wikipedia backs that up.
The show stars Jeffrey Donovan (who looks shockingly like Guy Pearce) as a spy who has been given one of these dicey burn notice thingies. Basic premise: he’s been fired from his job and has to investigate who did it to him and why. Watch out, unsuspecting world!
It sounds like the last third of Mr. and Mrs. Smith to us, but hey, at least it’s not ANOTHER cop drama solving murders while blaring The Who.
No word yet on who is doing the soundtrack or if the phones will go bllleppdooreep like on 24.
Now who wants to win some spygear crap?
What You Can Win:
-Secret Agent 5-in-1 Money Clip
-Secret Agent Flashlight & Cell Phone Charger
-Secret Agent Invisible Message UV Pen
How to Win:
Leave a comment about the how you’ve been fired from a job (being a super secret spy secret agent is optional). On July 18, we’ll pick one of the comments randomly using a secret algorithm only known to us and a mystery voice coming from a box on our desk.
You’ll win all this cool spy swag to impress the ladies (ladies just love a 5-in-1 Money Clip you can’t take through airport security).
Burn Notice premieres Thursday, June 28th at 10pm/9c on USA. More information here.

No advance notice — just a comment late morning to the effect of “BTW, you don’t have to come in tomorrow. Actually, you can leave now since we don’t have anything else for you to do” after all my duties were reassigned.

I walked into the office only to find my stuff in boxes and my desk occupied by the new person they hired. My then now ex-coworker gave me the memo by throwing coffee onto my white shirt and saying, “Thank God you’re out of here.” I decide to go back to my car only to find HAPPY TRAILS… written on my front windshield with whipped cream. Man, that was a bitch to clean off but at least I don’t work there anymore.

I worked in a gas station. Don’t laugh, it was a part-time job. I have another job which pays more but does not have a steady income. I drove in to work one day, and my boss was screaming at one of the guys i worked with. I assumed he was getting fired. I walked in and i said “dude, you fired?” and he replied with “no, you are he was yelling to me because i didnt want to fire you. sorry man”. But all who are worried out there, its ok, i still have the other job and now i work for a travel agency.
