Burning Birthdays

Lustrous melodies paired with effervescent keyboards and radiant vocals (complete with oohs and ahhs at the right offbeats) have filled our headphones. It’s readily apparent New York’s Harlem Shakes have the must-hear EP pop release of the month.

We will admit, however, the low-fi wall of sound everyone’s buzzing about just doesn’t through on our iPod.

With four new tracks and a re-recorded version of “Sickos,” the group has a wholesome bunch of tracks ripe for the picking. With an ambrosial keyboard riff punctuating the track, “Sickos” is by far our favorite, but do check out “Carpetbaggers” and Lexy Benaim’s falsetto-topped “Old Flames.”
