Junkie XL : Today

Junkie XL Today Label: Ultra Records Most well known for his (legal) remix of Elvis' "A Little Less Conversation" (think Nike commercials), Dutch DJ/producer Tom Junkie XL Holkenborg has a knack for combining rock and electronica with enough European flair that it's not pretentious. His new studio album, Today, is filled with rockers ("Mushroom"), slow building dance numbers ("Youthful") and a less-than-thrilling vocal-led title track --the first single, which has a video of Holkenborg dishing out "Junkified" hairstyles. Then the album just sort of fizzles out into atmospheric boredom. Definitely not a Saturday night party album, unless you just export the first three songs.
