Regardless of the religious undertones (if up for discussion) about the group, Danielson continues to churn out unique music akin to Sufjan Stevens’ projects (who actually sits in on oboe, flutes, whistles and glock), except these albums are even more electrifying and fascinating after multiple listens, and the live shows are inexplicable in their awesomeness.

Featuring the usual cadre (and guests) knocking out catchy playground choruses, layered instrumentation and that unmistakable high-pitch Danielson croon, Ships continues their aural assault on the group’s 6th album, labeled their most-accessible to date.

The two standout tracks of the new album are “Bloodbook on the Half Shell” and the single, “Did I Step on Your Trumpet.”

The group also has new uniforms, which will put to use May through September throughout the U.S., including a stop at the Triple Rock Social Club in Mpls on 5/26.
