Partnering the imaginative personality of Mr. Bungle, the drone and groan of Black Heart Procession, the orchestration of Meatloaf, circus side show of Cursive’s The Ugly Organ and a veritable jukebox of influences comes The Fever and their second album, In the City of Sleep.

It’s a nightmare circus mystery collage dance party with surf rock guitar solos. And it just gets better the more you listen to it.

Tracks range from cool ballads (”Little Lamb…”), midway gypsy freakouts (”Waiting for the Centipede”), and dance-pop barrel raisers (“Redhead” [mp3]) and “Mr. Baby” [mp3]). This is a great album.

Hits stores April 25, and they’ll play the Varsity Theater on May 26.
