Capital Sons
Self-titled

Buy your girlfriend a ring. Do it. And if you don’t heed my advice, don’t take her to a Capital Sons show. The quartet’s new self-titled EP oozes out seven tight tracks of poplacious wonder, and I guarantee after one listen she’ll be at every CS show, hanging out backstage and trying to make those sons into Capital Dads.

You see, Capital Sons make pretty good pop rock for a local group, and their new 7-track self-titled EP debut is a shining example of what’s to come. It’s almost like Eddie Vedder moved to Minneapolis and decided not to suck.

While the quartet’s Myspace page lists approximately 104 bands as key influences, we hear Seattle sound (Soundgarden, Pearl Jam) mixed with 90s pop (The Replacements, Goo Goo Dolls, Days of the New).

Overall it’s super accessible, guitar-driven alt-rock and a great start for group who are going places. Let’s just hope your girlfriend can wait for the ring.

Catch Capital Sons at the Terminal Bar on Friday, Mar 31 at 8:30 p.m.. You can buy their new EP at Electric Fetus, Cheapo, etc.
