Robin Shaw and Larry Englund at the Hat Trick Lounge in St. Paul announced today they’re adding Sunday to their music (and food) schedule for 7-11 p.m. Read on…

From Robin’s e-mail today:

Owners Mike and Jon are busy in the kitchen refining a new and way secret signature ribs recipe, which will be another highlight of Sunday Hat Trick shows. The Sunday theme will be a wind-down from the weekend. And… naturally we are looking for bands! If you’re looking for Sunday shows for your act or band or have other entertainment ideas contact Larry or me or stop at the club to talk about a Hat Trick date.

For those of you who don’t venture to downtown St. Paul to get your music fix, the Hat Trick books some fun local/regional acts of all genres. It definitely has that local bar feel, drinks are inexpensive, the food is good and it’s a great little venue. Robin and Larry — who book the music acts for the bar — are in their late 50s and 60s but think the music they book transcends age and goes beyond generational trends. While there is risk to not focusing on an age group like other venues their size, I think they’ve succeeded in creating an earthy, friendly, music-centric atmosphere for St. Paul urbanoids to explore. If you’re interested in playing a gig their, e-mail him here.

Meanwhile, I suggest you check out the Web site. This weekend is Rena and the Swamp Twisters playing the blues on Friday, and Saturday is Rad Jacket, featuring jazz standards, bebop, bossa nova and more. Hooray.
