The Norwegians are coming! Well it may be the an overly used metaphor but Bergen, Norway is definitely the new Seattle, the new Athens, the new Liverpool…think Kings of Convenience, Röyksopp and now Magnet.

Magnet is Even Johansen, who is returning to the U.S. with his second full length, The Tourniquet, the follow up to his heralded debut, On Your Side. We like to think of it as a mix of Elbow, Nick Drake, Tim Buckley and Willy Mason. The US version of the album boasts an exclusive bonus track, “This Bird Will Never Fly,” which doesn’t appear on any of the international releases.

While the album isn’t coming across the pond via Filter US Recordings until Feb. 14, you can get a wintry sneak preview from his UK EP last winter by downloading “Let It Snow” here. There are also some old and new tracks at his MySpace page here.
