I do three things: work, listen to music and go to concerts.

So I rarely get to the theater or rent movies. Unfortunately, I’ve been renting a bunch of b-level movies via Blockbuster.com lately, and while I’m no movie critic, here’s a recap for those of you keeping score at home:

Watched CRASH last week, and I work and live with so many different minorities now that it kind of pissed me off. It was like the movie was stirring up more tension rather than being a narrative about the existing tension. Lots of unnecessary jabs, I thought. Good movie, but I wouldn’t watch it again.

Hostage with Bruce Willis, former hostage negotiator who let a kid die now suddenly has his own family kidnapped PLUS drama PLUS safehouse PLUS kid inside with a cell phone. I swear this movie has been made a few times over. It was okay, not good though. I like Bruce better w/o beard and hair.

Assault on Precinct 13 - bad ending made the whole movie bad. I enjoyed it until the ending.

XXX: State of the Union - are you kidding me? I knew it wasn’t going to be good and was just looking for some some mindless action, but oh man this was a joke of a movie. Thought Ice Cube was hilarious as a badass XXX. They should have just given in to the temptation and made this like Friday and Next Friday and it would’ve been a classic.

Last night I watched Carlito’s Way - Rise to Power, which is the prequel to the original .It was good but dragged a lot. In general, I like Italian mobster films better than Puerto Rican ones.
