TONIGHT in Mpls:
World Leader Pretend
Quest Club Ascot Room
Billed as “America’s response to Coldplay,” World Leader Pretend take the stage at The Quest Club’s Ascot Room in downtown Minneapolis. Doors at 5 p.m. Show at 6 p.m. Update: I’m told by band mgmt WLP will take the stage at 8 p.m. (EARLY!).
The album is pretty great — piano-driven with echos of Coldplay, U2, Thom Yorke, The Verve and Neil Diamond across the album — and I’m betting the live show will be interesting sans strings.
Not sure of opener (was Catchpenny last night), and Quest Club’s Web site has been down for two months now (plus nobody answers their business line when you call). I’m not showing up until 7, so I hope there’s an opener.
