I’m pretty sure we have no business reviewing anything from Jimmy Webb, BUT we received not one but two (2!) advance copies of his new album. Therefore, we feel guilty and will make a fair attempt. But wait. We don’t know anything about him and couldn’t get through the first song on this album.

I bet your mom knows him – or at least she’ll remember “MacArthur Park,” the Webb penned ballad performed by everyone from Maynard Ferguson to Donna Summer, or there’s also “Up, Up & Away,” covered by Ray Conniff to Sammy Davis, Jr. Turns out Webb was a pretty prolific songwriter in his day and even did some performing (what? A pop performer who writes their own music?).

Well none of the previously listed songs are on this album, so you’ll have to buy it yourself if you want to know more. Or ask my mom, she cooed when I handed it to her.
