Starting in the 1960s, Dimension 5 Records for Children released some of the most groundbreaking works in the field of educational and electronic recordings ever heard and captured on vinyl. The brainchild of electronic music pioneer Bruce Haack and educational genius Esther Nelson, Dimension 5 explored such far out concepts as body mind integration, meditation, astral projection, endangered species, world music, robotics and now they’re out to cure autism.

Dimension mix is a collection of cover songs and remixes by today’s musical pioneers, a fitting tribute to Haack and Nelson. Over 18 artists, including Beck, Stereolab, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Eels, Apples in Stereo and DJ Me DJ You, clock in more than 72 minutes of blips, croons and beats. Proceeds from sales go to Cure Autism Now.

As a side note, I have to say that I hate that iTunes doesn’t have a solution for keeping compilation/various artists albums together when sorted by artist. I like having all my “R” bands together (e.g. Radiohead next to The Rapture) and don’t want to sort by album title. But then you get one track from each artist listed in iTunes and your iPod. Maybe I’m just too dense.
